One Job, Start To Finish

Ask, work it out, buy it, tick it off — each step hands to the next. No app hopping.

01

Ask

"Bathroom floor and walls, 600 by 300 porcelain — what do I need?" The Gaffer lists kit, substrate prep and the bits to check — tanking, decoupling, movement joints, which adhesive for porcelain.

02

Work it out

Tiles by area with waste, adhesive bags and grout tubs by area. Straight into the calculator, nothing retyped.

03

Buy it

Tiles, flexible adhesive, grout, trims, primer and silicone land on a shopping list with a Topps, Screwfix or merchant link on every line.

04

Tick it off

The room sits on the job's checklist. Tick it wall by wall, send it to the second fixer, invoice when it is sealed.

The Gaffer

Your AI site mate

"Floor 3.2 by 2.4 metres, 600 by 300 porcelain — how many tiles, how much adhesive and grout?"

7.7 square metres, plus 10 percent for cuts is 8.5. A 600 by 300 is 0.18 of a metre, so 47 tiles — take 48 and keep a couple back for later. Porcelain wants a flexible S1 adhesive on a 6mm solid bed: reckon a 20kg bag to about 3 square metres, so three bags. Grout at a 2mm joint runs about 0.4 kilos a metre, so a 5kg bag covers it. Prime the substrate and check it is flat within 3mm over 2 metres before a large-format tile goes anywhere near it.

Always verify to current regs. On-site conditions may vary.

Common Questions

Does the tile calculator do large-format porcelain?

Yes. Set the room, the tile size, tiles per box and a waste allowance and it gives tile count, boxes, adhesive bags and grout tubs. Ask the Gaffer for the right adhesive class for porcelain, natural stone or wet areas.

Does it know about tanking and decoupling?

Ask and it will tell you where tanking is needed, when a decoupling mat earns its place, and where movement joints go. You remain responsible for following the manufacturer's instructions.

Can I quote from the quantities?

Yes. The tile count and materials feed the quote builder, so the client gets a priced document from the van. Sending quotes needs Pro.
